Older Pets, Special Needs

We understand how older pets require additional care and attention. In fact, it is our pleasure to assist you in caring for your "senior citizens". We specialize in administering medications, cleaning up "accidents", supporting their limited mobility, and showering them with extra love while you are away from home.

Lad's Story

A retired hunting dog, Lad spent many hours running, swimming, and retrieving in his youth. Today his hips are tired and he has stenosis of the spine which makes it difficult for him to walk, and get up. He has trouble "holding it" like he used to and needs more frequent potty breaks. Long walks and playing fetch in the park are behind him now. Mostly he just wants to lie around and sleep in a comfortable spot. A human touch, a loving pet session, a warm body to snuggle up to, these are the things that make him happy.

Ricky's Story

A wise and intuitive cat, Ricky has long ruled the roost at his family home. Outliving other dogs and cats that once co-existed with him he is, in some ways, happier now that they have gone as he prefers to have all the attention from his humans. And, at this point, he has them trained perfectly to his desires and whims. Food is available 24/7 and that suits his nocturnal cravings to a "T". He prefers to drink his water from a glass, and have his litter box scooped promptly. He enjoys his quiet meditative walks in the garden, often spending an hour or so in one spot "hunting" for mice. His greatest pleasure is napping on the bed listening to the soft rock channel, or curling up on the couch in the sun.

Lola's Story

Formerly known as "Miss Congeniality" Lola was the queen of the doggie day care center. She loved playing and romping with all kinds of dogs, and they all loved her. As she has aged she has gone deaf and is losing her eyesight. Early signs of dementia are surfacing, and she is often confused and anxious. Unable to enjoy the energy level and interaction at day care, she is a stay at home dog now. In the familiar environment of her home this sweet girl can navigate and sustain with short neighborhood walks and lots of love.
